Cheat Sheet

Omaha (PLO4/5/6) Rules & Strategy

The '2 and 3' RuleThis is the #1 mistake beginners make. You MUST use exactly 2 cards from your hand and exactly 3 cards from the board. No more, no less. (e.g., Holding an Ace of spades with 4 spades on board is NOT a flush unless you have another spade).
More Cards = More VarianceIn PLO, hand values run closer together. Even AAxx is rarely more than a 65% favorite against a random hand, compared to 85% in NLH. Expect big swings.
Pot Limit BettingUnlike No-Limit Hold'em, the maximum bet is the current size of the pot. This calculates as: (3x Last Bet) + Trail Amount. It prevents instant all-ins pre-flop unless stacks are shallow.

Omaha Starting Hands (Premium)

Connectivity and Suitedness are key. 'Double Suited' (ds) hands are massive favorites.

TierDescriptionExamples
Tier 1Premium AA (Double Suited)
Tier 2High Rundowns (Double Suited)
Tier 3Premium KK + Broadway
Tier 4Single Suited Rundowns

💡 In PLO4, double suitedness and high connectivity are key. AAKK double suited is the best hand.

Strategy Insight: The Power of Blockers

In PLO, having the 'Nut Blocker' (e.g., the Ace of a suit on a flush board) allows you to bluff effectively because you know for a fact your opponent cannot have the Nuts. Bluffing is harder in PLO, so blocker-based plays are essential.
